‘The Helapet Award for Independent Study' In line with Helapet’s continued commitment to education and the development of its staff and customers, we are delighted to present once again, the Helapet Award for Independent Study together with the award for Best Overall Student in collaboration with the University of Derby.

The award for Best independent study 2008 was presented to Karen Morrey from Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, at a special presentation held at the Court Room at the University of Derby on the 12th January, in recognition for her work ‘Training programme for cleanroom cleaners’. The award for Best Overall student was awarded to Christine Ramsey from the Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. Many congratulations to Karen and Christine who have been studying the University of Derby BTEC professional Diploma (aseptic services) whilst working in aseptic services units. New film on film packaging for the SteriClean Wipes

The SteriClean dry wipe range has been restyled with new paper free packaging suitable for cleanroom areas. The packs are clearly labelled and offer convenient presentations of the low linting and absorbent polyester/cellulose wipes.

The alcohol resistant film on film packaging is easy to open and the packs of wipes can be liberally sprayed or dunked before being passed into the aseptic area.

The combination of spraying with 70% v/v alcohol and then wiping has been demonstrated to be more effective in reducing contamination levels than spraying and wiping alone. Used in combination with SteriClean Alcohol Sprays, SteriClean Wipes ensure that good cleaning practice can be maintained. Available ready folded, a clean section can quickly and efficiently be used for each wiping action and overlapping stroke.

SteriVal™ Validation Kit for Surface Bio-burden Assessment

New, easy method of validating aseptic processes.

Newly available, Helapet are proud to present, the first fully comprehensive validation kit that contains everything required to perform 6 tests and 1 control to gauge the number of bioburdens on a variety of items that are aseptically transferred.

For the first time, units can be benchmarked for the number of bioburdens found in storage right through 2 aseptic transfers.

The kit can be used as an annual check on aseptic processes, to validate new technicians and to highlight any potential problem areas for improvement.

The kit has full instructions and is easy to use. It has been developed in conjunction with NHS Wales and recognised as offering significant improvements in the quality of prescribing, dispensing or administering medicines by the ABPI.

SteriClean a success at BOPA Glasgow

Thank you to all who took the time to visit us on stand 39, at BOPA Glasgow.

We were delighted to meet so many people who wanted to see and try the newSteriClean Alcohol Sprays for themselves.

The new exhibition stand graphics looked really great and can next be seen again in the new year.

ABPI Award

Congratulations to Dr Sara Hiom from the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust who has won a prestigious ABPI award for innovative practice. This is in recognition for the work she has carried out over the last year on validating aseptic processes in hospital pharmacies.

Helapet have been working closely with Sara to produce a validation kit to complement her test procedures. It is hoped that these new standard operating procedures will be widely adopted across the UK as it has now been proven to be the best method for validating aseptic processes from storage through 2 transfers.
